People are idiots

I have mentioned this many times before. It bears mentioning again. People are idiots. Flat out morons. Now this isn't going to be a political rant, just something I have said to friends many times before, but finally deciding I need to actually write this shit down.

On the way in to work today at about 6:45am, one of the traffic lights was not functioning properly (Telegraph and Ford Rd.). I approach the light with a sense of dread at what kind of douchebaggery is about to unfold. The scene does not disappoint, as one set of cars that actually patiently awaited their turn, followed by 1-2 more cars following those come barreling through the light, despite not waiting their turn.

This kind of behavior can only lead to two conclusions:
1) They don't understand the concept of a 4 way stop....however, this is quickly dismissed as they seem to handle stop signs in residential neighborhoods with at least a mild degree of understanding as to what they mean.
2) They believe that they don't have to wait, and decide to just punch the gas. This is the most troubling, and makes me yearn for to have a shitty car and no fear of law enforcement or increased insurance rates, so that I could just plow into them.

I have seen this scenario unfold EVERY time I have approached a traffic light that is not working, and I can instantly feel my blood pressure climb 10-20 clicks.

So what conclusion can we draw from this story? Simply and to the point...people are idiots.
